DENVER?One of the nation?s pre-eminent military linguistic teams is at work in Salt Lake City, tapping the talents of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who learned a foreign language while on proselytizing missions abroad.
Members of the 300th Military Intelligence Brigade, a National Guard unit based in the Salt Lake City suburb of Draper, work to translate the text of intercepted communications.
They have been deployed to Bosnia, Thailand and Kosovo.
With 30 percent of Utah residents speaking a foreign language, experts say Utah is the most multilingual state in the nation.
