Why is the University of Utah football program so insensitive to a huge section of their alumni and fan base?
They chose to play a game on the night of Friday, Oct. 5.
They started the U football game at 6 p.m., when most “active” men in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be attending a priesthood conference.
Was this scheduled on purpose, as a slap in the face to members of the LDS Church?
Is it part of a consistent pattern of hostility towards members of the LDS Church which drives a wedge through our community?
Or was it just negligence on the part of a football program that can’t figure out why they can’t fill seats?
It’s impossible for the U to work around everyone’s beliefs all the time, but it seems absurd to intentionally and specifically alienate such a large section of the state.
