SALT LAKE CITY?While Olympic officials are quick to crack down on those who use the Olympic insignia for profit without authorization, they say there’s not much they can do if people get the five interlocking rings inked into their skin.
Tattoos are probably an improper use of the rings, said Linda Luchetti, spokeswoman for the joint marketing venture between SLOC and the U.S. Olympic Committee, but most people who get such tattoos would likely have a direct Olympic connection.
?What can we really do if they have that much enthusiasm for the Olympics?? she said.
Tattoo artist Tony Marchese said he has etched rings on untold numbers of athletes.
