SALT LAKE CITY?A Wichita, Kan. man accused of threatening to hijack a Greyhound bus fired his attorney and then pleaded innocent to three charges in federal court Thursday.
Troy Allen Matzek shuffled into court looking disheveled and fired his attorney before entering his plea.
“I’d like my uncle to be my attorney in this case,” he said before U.S District Magistrate Samuel Alba interrupted him. “I don’t want to continue without my attorney; this was thrown upon me.”
Matzek, 35, was charged by a federal grand jury Wednesday with carjacking, threatened use of an explosive and disabling or incapacitating the driver of a motor vehicle.
