After scoring four goals against Wyoming last week, the Mountain West Conference honored the Utah soccer team’s Amy Kofoed as its Player of the Week Monday.
Kofoed not only scored four goals against the Cowgirls, but she also got one assist, giving her nine points for the game. Four goals in one game is a new record for the University of Utah, as is the nine points in one game.
The four goals ties a Mountain West record with Beth Boyer of Air Force, set against Weber State this year. The nine points break a single game record for the conference, formerly held by Boyer.
Kofoed led the Utes to a 2-0 record last weekend, as they defeated Wyoming 8-2 on Thursday, then defeated the Air Force Academy 2-1 on Saturday.
Kofoed is excited to break more records in her last year at Utah (she already surpassed the school’s career goals-scored mark this year), but she has stated many times before that records don’t matter unless the team wins.
Utah is now 9-5 overall, 3-2 in the conference, and in second place behind BYU. Utah plays BYU Saturday afternoon to determine the MWC Championship.
