GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip?British Prime Minister Tony Blair urged the Muslim world to expel extremists and told Israelis and Palestinians to resume peace talks as he ended a trip to the Middle East on Thursday.
But despite his call, violence continued in the West Bank. In a targeted killing, Israeli helicopters fired missiles at a car near the city of Nablus, killing two Palestinians. The Israelis said they were about to carry out a suicide bomb attack.
Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat charged that the Israeli operations were a crime and endangered peace efforts.
Blair acknowledged the pressure Israel is facing, and at a news conference following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in Jerusalem, he listed Palestinian attacks that killed dozens of Israelis and wounded hundreds.
