OGDEN?Orthopedic surgeons from Logan to St. George have signed up with the AFL-CIO affiliated Federation of Physicians and Dentists since 15 Ogden doctors left Intermountain Health Care in a fee dispute.
Officials said more than 100 of the 130-plus orthopedic surgeons in the state have joined the doctors’ union since June, the month after the Ogden doctors bolted from IHC’s insurance plans.
But they’re not all saying it’s IHC’s fault.
“Maybe what the Ogden doctors did brought it to a head,” said Ken Lester, director of Alpine Orthopedics, a Logan clinic whose eight orthopedic surgeons have joined the federation.
