HEBER CITY?A new hydroelectric plant will be built on Jordanelle Dam to supplement the power needs of the rapidly growing Heber Valley.
The plant will cost between $11 million and $15 million and will take at least 18 months to finish. It will consist of a small building at the base of the dam to hold turbines turned by falling water, and a new set of power lines running into the valley.
Craig Broussard, general manager of the Heber Light and Power Company, said water will continue to be released from Jordanelle on a schedule established by downstream irrigators and drinking-water systems.
