SALT LAKE CITY?Spectators at one Olympic venue will be examined by the same facial recognition technology that led this year’s Super Bowl to be dubbed the “Snooper Bowl.”
West Valley City police will purchase about a dozen cameras for the E Center from Pennsylvania-based Graphco Technologies Inc. The total cost of the cameras is $25,000. About $18,000 of that comes from the state, the rest from the city.
The E Center will host men’s and women’s hockey.
Public criticism of “Big Brother” policing and a price tag in the millions of dollars forced the Utah Olympic Public Safety Command to limit use to only the E Center venue.
