SALT LAKE CITY?While the Olympic closing ceremony will encourage spectators to rock out to Bon Jovi and ‘N Sync, the opening ceremony may reduce the sentimental to tears.
Think of the soundtracks from “Star Wars,” “Saving Private Ryan,” “Harry Potter” or the rousing theme music from past Olympic ceremonies. Their creator was John Williams, who Olympic officials said Tuesday would be the composer for the 2002 Olympic theme music.
Several others, including Michael Kamen, Robbie Robertson, David Foster, Mark Watters and Utah musicians Kurt Bestor and Sam Cardon, were announced as additional composers Tuesday.
