SALT LAKE CITY?Corporate sponsors for the 2002 Winter Olympics have returned 5 percent of their tickets to the Games, according to organizers, who say it’s not unusual.
Sponsors returned $3.3 million worth of tickets out of $63.8 million set aside for them.
The number of tickets they could request depended on the size of their contributions.
U.S. public ticket sales remain brisk despite the troubled economy and September attacks, say top executives for the Salt Lake Organizing Committee.
“We’re seeing sales of about $100,000 a day in tickets, so even at this (late) stage, that’s pretty good,” said SLOC President Mitt Romney.
