SALT LAKE CITY?Forty IOC coats and jackets and other Olympic apparel were stolen from a truck in West Valley City, raising concerns about a possible security breach at the 2002 Winter Games.
The coats were designed exclusively for International Olympic Committee delegates. Thirty-six of them were three quarter-length coats, while four were parkas.
Also stolen were clothing items for public sale.
Thieves took $28,000 worth of apparel after breaking a padlock on a rental truck parked inside a fenced lot, said Linda Lucetti, a spokeswoman for the marketing arm of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee.
