Because of the Paralympics, the U will close on March 7.
The Opening Ceremony for the Paralympics happens in Rice-Eccles Stadium that evening, so classes will be held only until 1:45 p.m. to make room for preparations. Faculty, students and staff who come for classes should depart campus by 2 p.m., according to FYI, the campus faculty/staff newsletter.
Health science employees are not included in those who are to leave by 2 p.m., nor are “essential” personnel, those required to keep the campus running such as security and facilities employees, according to U spokesman Remi Barron.
Also because of the closure, the March 7 pay day will change to March 6. The Feb. 7 pay day has been changed to Feb. 5, as the U will be closed Feb. 6 and 8 for the Olympics.
