Skateboarder caught on campus?Police checked on a report of skateboarders on the north side of the Student Services Building. They were boarding in a way that damages U property. When the officer arrived, he saw only one man boarding, so he talked to him. The man said he didn’t know of the U’s policy on skateboarding. The officer, however, recognized the man and remembered warning him about boarding not long ago. As a result, the officer cited the boarder for criminal trespass.
Bike theft?Someone stole a bike valued at $2,000 that was secured with a cable at the Architecture Building.
Mistaken marijuana?An Austin Hall residence hall adviser called the police, believing people were using marijuana in a room there. The police investigated. They found no marijuana, but several bottles of beer and six people all under 21.
Chalk vandalism?Someone expressed him or her self with chalk obscenely in the Life Sciences Building.
Office theft?A woman left her office at University Hospital. When she returned, she saw a man walking out of her office. She didn’t recognize him, so she asked him what he was doing in her office.He ignored her and walked away. She followed him and continued asking him why he was in her office. He finally turned around and told the woman she was crazy and that he didn’t know her.When the hospital employee returned to her office, she discovered her wallet had been stolen.
Hedco theft?Someone stole an air compressor and a pair of gloves from the Hedco Building.
Harassment?A woman called 911 because an acquaintance of hers refused to leave her residence and “leave her alone” on University Street. University Police responded. They warned the man of the severity of his actions and the consequences if he persisted. They then took him from the area.
“Crash carts”?Someone broke into two different “crash carts” at University Hospital and stole drugs from the carts.
Theft at Bookstore?A student put his backpack in one of the University Bookstore short term storage cubicles and then did some shopping.When he finished shopping, he discovered his backpack had been stolen.
Police tip of the week?If you have an office on campus, make sure you lock your door when you leave. Even if you are leaving for just a minute or two. Remember, it only takes a thief 30 seconds to steal something.
