SALT LAKE CITY?Female protesters rallied outside the Capitol Monday for the passage of a law that would require insurance policies to cover birth control prescriptions.
The Utah Nurses Association organized the rally in support of the prescription equity bill. About 150 women showed up to aid the protest.
Sen. Paula Julander, D-Salt Lake City, is sponsoring the bill for the fourth year. It has been defeated by lawmakers a total of five times.
This year, 17 additional states, a federal judge and the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission have all taken action against insurance companies that do not cover birth control prescriptions.
