In a startling development Friday, student leaders let the campus in on their little secret.
“We kick ass,” said Ben Lowe, president of the Associated Students of the University of Utah.
The announcement came at the end of a press conference where Lowe had unveiled his plan “to show campus that ASUU does do lots of stuff.”
“We do lots of stuff,” he said.
The announcement shocked many students on campus.
“There was an announcement? Student government what?” asked Reed St. James, a student studying ornithology.
St. James had no idea the U had a student government or that it kicked ass.
“Many don’t know, but we really are cool,” Lowe said.
He cited the LoveSac lounge that his predecessor created as well as his lack of a tie as sufficient proof.
“This is a No Bull administration,” said Lowe, referring to the party name under which he ran for student body president.
When asked what he meant by that, he said it meant that ASUU was “neato.”
During the press conference, Lowe announced the results of a recent survey.
The survey conducted inside the ASUU offices involved all 25 students who could name both the student body president and vice president.
“These are the core of our staff, and they are the most knowledgeable about this wonderful organization,” Lowe said.
The survey found 76 percent thought ASUU was worthwhile, and the remaining 24 percent didn’t know what ASUU stood for.
Lowe will take the results around campus in what he calls “information meetings.”
“Pretty much, I go to student groups and let them know how much we rock.”
