You will never believe who got kicked out of a rehabilitation center. Guess? I knew you couldn’t figure it out.
Darryl Strawberry.
I knew it would shock you; how would a man like that even end up in a rehab center?
I didn’t know he even did drugs, but I guess anyone can hit the crackpipe up.
He got kicked out of the center for having sexual relations with another member of the center, which was explicitly against the center’s policy.
Strawberry had a “good” excuse for his misbehavior.
“Of course we know we’re not supposed to interact with the sisters in any kind of sexual way, but?it happened,” he told a CBS affiliate. “I’ve done some serious damage to my marriage through addiction, and at this point, it looks like it’s going to cost me my marriage.”
Hmmm….having sex because of an addiction to drugs and alcohol.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised at this new incident, even if he apparently has been off drugs for 10 months.
Good for him?I guess fornication took the place of that addiction, but what the hell, everyone does it.
And here’s an added incentive to the mix for Strawberry. His wife might even stay with him. “Unfortunately, this is part of the devastation of the disease of alcoholism and addiction,” Charisse Strawberry said.
His wife might not leave him even though he cheats on her because of his “alcohol addiction.”
Why shouldn’t he do it?
Through discussing athlete problems before, you know my stance is that athletes often don’t care about the consequences, but seeing Strawberry gives me a new stance on the situation.
DO IT.
The odds of you actually getting caught, if you mean something to your sport, is quite small. For every person who gets caught, like Jayson Williams and Rae Carruth, you always have about 50 other athletes who get away from entire fray of their legal troubles.
If I were Michael Jordan, I would make a night of it.
First, I would head to the nearest bar and get completely hammered.
Next, I’d go purchase about a pound of crack, snort some up and spread the rest of it out to little kids on the street.
During the crack party, I would find a couple of women and continue to cheat on my wife. Who cares, she reconciled once, what is the second time going to do?
To finish off the night, I would go out and kill a couple of people for fun. In the morning, there might be cops in my house, but I wouldn’t be sweating it.
They would take me in, but I would get the best lawyer possible, and there would be no jury or judge that would ever convict me. I am Michael Jordan?who would dare convict His Airness?
I may be overexaggerating the problem, but don’t think for one moment that the athletes don’t get away with problems.
Strawberry is addicted, but everyone kept giving him chances because he could hit the long ball. Doc Gooden has an alcohol addiction but was still given chances because he had some talent.
However, a no-talent clown that is riding the bench will never get any slack for what he does. And he shouldn’t, because he is not a superstar.
He should not get away, because he can’t hit that clutch 3-pointer, he can’t knock the cover off the ball, or he just can’t play at the professional level.
It seems pretty reasonable to me. Talent should dictate how an athlete is treated in court.
I have nothing against athletes. I am glad they are getting away with what they can. Hey, if you can take it, get it.
I retract my previous statement that athletes should pay attention to the consequences of the actions they take. They already do?how else would they so fully realize that it probably won’t matter, and that they will most likely get away with it?
