March is a busy month for greek women. This year’s Greek Week coincides with Women’s Week, both of which conclude on Friday, March 29.
Among the events slated for this week are a blood drive and a trip to Hogle Zoo to visit with children.
The blood drive is hosted by ARUP Laboratories, a U-based research lab run by the department of pathology.
The “blood vessel” will be located outside of the Sigma Phi Epsilon and Beta Theta Pi house on Thursday afternoon from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
In addition, members from every fraternity and sorority will be on hand at Hogle Zoo from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon to meet with underprivileged children from the Neighborhood House.
Angie Henry, vice president of the Panhellenic Council, is in charge of organizing the events with Interfraternity Council vice president Justin Ackley.
This is Henry’s first semester in office, and she has been working on Greek Week preparations since January.
“It’s basically been my life since then,” she said.
Henry and Ackley received input from every member of the Greek Council, but final decisions and preparations were made exclusively by the two vice presidents.
“We pretty much decided to take the whole thing over, but we’ve gotten input from members of Greek Council, and I think everyone is pretty excited,” Henry said.
