We are the Elevation Party. We are excited that the elections are finally here. We have found students to be very responsive to our efforts to increase the voter turnout. Thank you to all of you who vote! We want to let you know why our party is different from all the rest. For more information, you can find us at www.elevation2002.com
? As students, we understand what it is like to listen to different campaigns make promises that they haven’t researched or really even thought about. We want you to feel confident that the issues that we address in our platform are realistic, feasible and attainable. We have done our research, and we can and will do the things on our platform. There are no empty promises.
? Open Door Administration? We have found through our experience with ASUU this year that one of the best ways to approach students concerns is by face-to-face contact with them. We have been out amongst students for months to find out what you want. We have based our platform on those ideas. With Elevation, your voice will be heard.
? Experience? We have been heavily involved with Executive Cabinet this year. We have the knowledge that it would take other parties months to learn. With the Olympic break, it is essential that you have student leaders that can pick up right where the others left off. Elevation can and will do this. We are passionate about serving our university and we have the experience to do it well.
? Tuition? There was a poll that was published in The Chronicle that said around 74 percent of all students at the U work to pay their own tuition. We come from that crowd and understand that paying for college can become unaffordable. We will work with the Board of Regents and the state Legislature to fight for minimal tuition increases. We cannot allow higher education to become unaffordable to students and we won’t.
? Parking?Student voice was heard with the parking petition. Colter Hammer was the public relations director for ASUU this year and was the coordinator of getting out to students with the parking petition. Through that petition, which was signed by more than 5,000 students, the parking task force was formed. The recommendations made by that task force will be put in place by the upcoming administration. We will see that it is done well.
We understand ASUU from first-hand experience. Yet, we are open-minded and creative when it comes to implementing new ideas that will enhance the over-all college experience. If you want student leaders who are realistic and have the knowledge to create change, vote for Elevation. If you want a student government that will represent the students on campus, vote Elevation. If you want to see a better campus atmosphere, vote Elevation.
