The last stage of the track season is on, as the U outdoor track and field team will begin the season this weekend in the Stanford Distance Carnival.
High school, college and professional runners will be competing at the tournament in Palo Alto, Calif.
This will be the final stage of the first season for coaches Brian Appell and Lisa Collet.
Both coaches have done a respectable job, as coach Appell led his cross country team to a 3rd and 4th place finishes at the Mountain West Conference Championships.
The indoor track and field team, instructed by both coaches, finished sixth at the Mountain West Conference Championships Feb. 23.
Last season, the Utes finished fifth in the Mountain West Conference Championships, and they will attempt to better that with runners such as All-American Teren Jameson as well as Nephi Tyler and April Jackson.
Jameson came off an unbelievable cross country season, and will attempt to finish off his career at Utah on an unbelievable note.
Tyler and Jackson are coming off good finishes at the conference championships and hope to carry that momentum into the outdoor season.
