The preseason is over. The past record means pretty much nothing.
Play for the U men’s tennis team now begins.
The team takes its 11-7 record to Albuquerque to take on both New Mexico and Air Force this weekend. The Utes bring in a three-game winning streak.
New Mexico has an equal record to the U at 11-7, and is 1-1 in the Mountain West Conference. The Lobos are coming off a big 4-3 win last Saturday against No. 58 UNLV.
The Air Force Academy Falcons have the best winning percentage in the conference at .706, with a 12-5 record, but have lost their first two conference matches to UNLV and No. 30 San Diego State.
Those losses dropped the Academy out of the top-75. They will be looking to get back into the win column.
The road hasn’t been that kind to the Utes thus far in 2002. Despite having a perfect 7-0 record at home, Utah is 4 7 on the road.
After the two matches in New Mexico, the Utes host their final three matches against the three top-ranked teams in the MWC: BYU, San Diego State and UNLV.
Both matches against UNM and AFA begin at 1 p.m. at New Mexico.
