KAYSVILLE?Utah’s Republicans have voted Sen. Terry Spencer out of the running for the District 22 seat.
The Davis County Republican delegates overwhelmingly favored Farmington Mayor Greg Bell in the vote Saturday. The 72-percent support for Bell means he avoids a runoff and secures the party’s nomination.
It also means Bell will likely win the state Senate seat in the general election?no Democrat has signed up to run for the seat.
In his last legislative session, Spencer touted the Legacy Highway bill, which would have forced opponents of state projects to pay legal and construction-delay costs if they file and lose lawsuits. Gov. Mike Leavitt vetoed the bill.
