SALT LAKE CITY?An 18-year-old man may stay behind bars until he is 21 for his role in the death of a boy during a drag race.
Kimble Smith was sentenced Wednesday for the August accident that killed Craig Warburton, 13.
Smith was driving in a drag race with his friend when his car spun off the road at about 80 mph and crashed into a group of boys, killing Warburton.
Smith pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of negligent homicide, two counts of misdemeanor assault and one count each of reckless driving and exhibition driving.
A 3rd District Juvenile Judge sent Smith to a youth lockup, where he could stay until he is 21.
