SALT LAKE CITY?A small airplane crashed in heavy rain into Traverse Ridge in Draper on Saturday, killing one man.
Sheriff’s deputies returned to the site on Sunday to search for another person who may have been aboard the plane. Federal investigators also planned a visit.
The twin-engine Piper was discovered by the Civil Air Patrol at an elevation of about 5,300 feet in northern Utah County.
“There was debris spread all around the site,” Utah County sheriff’s Sgt. Dennis Harris said.
Authorities couldn’t confirm the identity of the person they said was found dead at the crash site. Flight officials haven’t determined if another passenger was aboard the aircraft.
