WEST JORDAN, Utah?FBI terrorism experts have joined the investigation into vandalism of equipment at a West Jordan project designed to protect the environment.

The vandals?whose spray painted messages included “Lots of ELFs” and “Hayduke Lives!”?caused about $50,000 damage, jamming dirt into the crankcase of a bulldozer and smashing windows.

“ELF” is assumed to refer to the Earth Liberation Front, which is said by the FBI to have caused $43 million damage in more than 600 attacks.

FBI Agent Craig Phillippe said the vandals may have wanted to make it look like a recognized group by leaving the graffiti.
