Dear Editor:I’m usually not one to express my displeasure publicly. However, recent circumstances have pushed me beyond the edge. I am a soon-to-be senior. Well, at least that’s what I thought. However, it seems to me that the university is insistant on keeping me here as long as possible. For three years I have been on the bottom of the registration totem pole and I was encouraged this year as I approached my senior year. I lack about 20 credits to graduation and was looking forward to completing my schooling within the next year. Now it would seem that I will not reach senior status this year, and who knows if ever while at this university. While speaking to one of my freshman acquaintances last week, she mentioned her class schedule for next semester. As soon as I learned that freshman had priority registration, I knew that I was doomed. The communication department has always made it a chore to register for its classes by offering too few sections and not allowing enough students. So, not to my surprise when I went online to register (more than a week after the freshman) I found all my required classes filled. So, once again I am left to wonder if I will be attending school next semester, and quite honestly, I don’t really care if I ever come to this school again. It is a complete joke. And now they want to raise tuition another 9 or 10 percent!?! How about raising the budgets in some of the departments if we’re going to have to pay that much more. Last spring I found myself bringing printing paper to my class because the department was trying to cut back, yet at the same time they had already raised tuition? So I would just like to once again thank the ‘powers-that-be’ for making my experience at the University of Utah pure hell and three years too long. One Frustrated Student
