Editor:
I am responding to Brian Neff’s Nov. 27 letter to the editor “Utah Athletic Director Thinks He’s King of Hill.”
Chris Hill is a man of character and caring about others. He is all about student-athletes. People aren’t aware of the fact Ron McBride didn’t value academics like he said he did. The football players are not disciplined on the field or off the field. Rick Majerus values education and discipline. People aren’t aware of the facts.
Hill would not have remained in his job for 15 years if it weren’t for his dignity, honesty and passion about what he does. He never has the opportunity to express the facts.
McBride has tried to use everyone he can to misinterpret the facts and to try to make people believe he is this wonderful guy and coach. Has anyone ever thought about Hill’s feelings and what he goes through? Try putting yourself in his shoes for once.
Former Ute football players who are in the NFL have complained to me about McBride when they were playing for him. The players run the show, not McBride. He has no discipline. He is all about his ego and what others think of him. That’s why he had media film his interviews with players to make him look good.
I think Hill has proven to this community what U athletics can accomplish. He recently raised enough money to build an awesome academic center for the student-athletes. So, his values are about the students and their education. Take some time to get to know him first before blasting him.
