Why do people think they’re being attacked by affirmative action? How is a nation atoned of past and current sins by simply declaring that attitudes toward certain minorities have changed and that we should forget about it and move on?
Affirmative action has nothing to do with beating down on whitey. Why do people think they’re being attacked or discriminated against by affirmative action policies?
How can we say that we’ve righted the wrongs of our past simply by deciding that everything is fine and that we’re not doing anything wrong anymore?
If you dig a hole for someone to fall into, you’re not forgiven simply because you’ve given up on digging more holes. Leveling the playing field means that you pull people out of the holes you’ve dug.
The you-can-get-out-by-yourself mentality of finding “success through hard work” is foolish and ignorant.
And please don’t even consider it a sacrifice when you or I have to work harder because some others are getting helped out. That hard work is owed, not sacrificed.
