If you have a problem with President Bush committing troops to Iraq, then read the United Nations’ resolution that says Iraq must give U.N. weapons inspectors complete access and cooperation–something those inspectors are not getting.
Why even have a United Nations if every resolution it passes is not enforced?
By not supporting troops in Iraq, the United Nations will show the world that it does not enforce its own rules.
If it’s a moral problem with war, then try to understand this: Saddam has killed thousands of his own people by way of chemical weapons, is known for having whole families executed if one member steps out of line, has given no rights to women and the list goes on.
People are dying horrible deaths every day as a result of past chemical weapons experiments. As an Army reservist (whose unit has just been activated), my first goal is peace, but peace cannot be defined by the absence of conflict.
Peace is the reason I support the war.
As long as there are people in power like Saddam in this world, peace is impossible. It is not about oil, politics or international norms–it’s about doing the right thing.
