An Internet connection now enables students to access a reference librarian, live, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
A new service on the Marriott Library Web site, called LIVE CHAT, connects students with reference librarians at the library or 32 other academic libraries across the nation.
“With so many of the library’s resources now available online and accessible remotely at all hours of the day, we felt it important to offer reference support for those products at all hours of the day,” said Leslie Haas, head of reference at Marriott Library, in a recent statement.
LIVE CHAT has been around for a while, but has recently become available at the U.
Students may use the service to have questions answered about how to find resources and information.The answers come in real time over the Internet.
“The cooperation with the other libraries is what makes it possible to provide the service 24 hours a day and 365 days a year,” Haas said. LIVE CHAT is available on the Marriott Library Web site at www.lib.utah.edu.
