Rather than saying “From my cold dead hands,” I have adopted a new saying about the latest ruling concerning the guns on campus issue. That saying is, “I’ve got all day!”
As probably the most avid pro gun student on campus, I am keeping the unconstitutional ruling on the U’s gun policy in perspective. Because that is what it is-the court’s ruling is against not only the U.S. Constitution but also against the Utah Constitution.
Often lower court judges will rule in a certain manner, knowing full well that a case like this will go straight to the Court of Appeals and so on. This case will go all the way to the Supreme Court. So until that day or until I graduate from this university, whichever comes first, I will just be patient. I’ve got all day.
I know that a university can do very little to a law-abiding citizen if he or she is ever caught not concealing his or her firearm because that law-abiding citizen is smart enough to conceal his or her firearm and student ID. So do your worst! I don’t give a crud! I’ve got all day!
