Brent Schneider, associate professor of modern dance, has been appointed as the new associate dean of the College of Fine Arts.
He will replace David Dynak, who resigned several months ago after ten years at the U to become the dean of the College of Arts and Media at the University of Colorado in Denver, Colo.
Schneider will step into his new role as associate dean on July 1.
Schnieder has taught in the department of modern dance for 11 years and created several courses in the department, including graduate and undergraduate classes in digital technologies for dance. He also serves as co-chair of the Performing Dance Company, a group made up of modern dance majors who perform in fully produced concerts that run for two weeks each semester.
Raymond Tymas-Jones, dean of the Collge of Fine Arts, said he was excited to see Schnieder step into his new role.
“He has the respect of his colleagues and students through his stellar work as an artist and teacher of modern dance,” Tymas-Jones said in a written statement. “There is no doubt that he will have an enormous impact on the College of Fine Arts.”
Before working at the U, Schneider was an adjunct professor at Weber State University for seven years. He has been a member of the American College Dance Festival Association, Utah Theatre Association and the Rocky Mountain Theater Association.
