I just read Jessica Dunn’s article, , and I was surprised that she didn’t mention one of the best avenues for getting weather forecasts for Utah ski resorts. I can only assume this is because she hasn’t heard of it.
I am a graduate student in mountain meteorology here at the U, and I help run a non-profit, student-run, high quality website called “Utah Ski Weather.com.”
All our forecasters are experienced and trained in forecasting mountain weather, and our goal is to provide accurate and useful forecasts to the skiing and riding community, in addition to providing information on snow conditions and detailed discussions.
Most organizations that provide weather forecasts focus on accurate forecasts for population centers and, as a result, don’t have the resources to spend time producing a quality mountain weather forecast, let alone a ski area-specific forecast. At “Utah Ski Weather.com,” ski forecasts are the only thing we do. This results in a more accurate forecast than you’ll find elsewhere. So, check us out and THINK SNOW!
