In the first meet of the season for the Utah cross-country team the Utes finished third in the overall team standings.
Utah State finished first in the meet with 32 points while Weber State came in second with 38 points. Utah earned 57 points in their third-place finish.
In the absence of teammate Alyssa Abbott, the Utes were led by Chelsea DiGrazia, who placed first in the 5K race with a time of 17 minutes 57.2 seconds. Lauren Enderson, Janett Ern and Kellie Anderson were all in the top 15 placing 12th, 13th and 14th, respectively.
“We ran well early on and in the end of the race, but we didn’t push hard enough in the middle,” head coach Kyle Kepler said. “I think training over the next couple of weeks will fix things though.”
With the team not attending the BYU Autumn Classic, the next meet for the Utes will be the Colorado State Open on Sat., Sept. 13.
