Linda Tran, a freshman, takes full advantage of her UTA Ed-Pass by commuting daily from Ogden to the U.
“I think TRAX is better than driving. There are tables (on FrontRunner) for you to work on with your laptop to do your homework,” Tran said. “Plus there is free Internet, and that beats the afternoon traffic.”
The commute between Ogden and the Salt Lake Central Station downtown takes Tran about 40 minutes. The University train ride then takes about 20 minutes, she said.
Still, the time it takes for Tran to get between locations can be used productively8212;she said that is when she does most of her homework and studies.
TRAX and FrontRunner don’t go everywhere, though. Lin Zhang, a junior majoring in computer science, has been riding buses for the past three years and said she loves it.
“The buses are pretty convenient, but they can be late a lot,” Zhang said. “I get between work, school and home using the bus. If people tried it they’d like it, you can become familiar with it quickly.”
Zhang said she rides public transportation because she likes the safety and luxury of being able to study or read while she gets between places.
