Editor:
In response to Alicia Williams’ article (“18-year-olds too young for drinking or military,” Nov. 3), I wonder how long Alicia served in the military?
True, the military has young service members, but what about police officers and firefighters? Should they not be allowed to pursue those careers until they are older? We are one of the few nations that has an all-volunteer military, but I guess you would prefer mandatory military service after the age of 21?
Let’s have everybody go to college and then serve in the military? You believe that the world is a perfect place because you are naïve. The world is a mean bastard.
