A TRAX train hit a pedestrian Sunday night at the intersection of 400 South and State Street.
The victim, a white male between the ages of 40 and 50, crossed against the light heading north. The train heading dragged the victim approximately 30 or 50 feet into the intersection.
“TRAX certainly had the right of way,” said Lt. Scott White of the U Police Department. He said a bottle of mouthwash was found at the scene of the accident.
The police closed four lanes of the intersection, but allowed traffic to resume soon after the accident. White said he does not know the exact speed of the train. The victim definitely received injuries to the torso, but police have not received reports from the hospital about further injuries.
