In response to Jeremy Thompson’s article (“GO Party posts racially charged song,” March 4), it’s unfortunate that we do not have anything in the RedBook that calls for repercussions. By this point there is only one thing left for us as students at the U to do: Vote for another party that doesn’t promote stereotypes.
The candidates of the party have expressed time and again that they are sorry, and they didn’t know this song was being played on their Web site. If the GO Party is not able to control what goes on during their campaign, how are they going to manage what goes on in ASUU?
The GO Party is taking a step backwards when it comes to ending racism, stereotypes and advancing social justice, which they claim is on their platform.
I have not supported, been active, or have even paid much attention to this year’s campaigns, but this issue has hit close to home.
Do not vote GO. Do not support stereotyping.
