The amazing streak continues.
ASUU President and snazzy socialite Patrick Reimherr has accepted an offer to head up the American International Group, Inc., effective immediately. The 22-year-old Reimherr, who has stood tall among a slew of critiques during his time as president of the Associated Students of the University of Utah, has made his stamp on the U during his time here.
The recent winning of the $30,000 Truman Scholarship for public service is yet another accolade that Reimherr can proudly put on his mother’s fridge.
“You know, since I’ve been here, I have been the University of Utah,” said a jubilant Reimherr. “But, now, it’s time for the next step. I am incredibly excited to take that next step and use all the knowledge of money and hard work I’ve put in here.”
The young up-and-comer will be replacing current chairman and CEO of AIG, Edward M. Liddy, who is falling on hard times after dolling out close to a couple hundred million dollars in bonuses to many AIG executives.
Although Reimherr has effectively ruled with an “iron-fist” approach, he himself has been, at times, the subject of many potential conspiracies involving fiscal matters. His second-in-command, ASUU vice president Jon Hayes, said he thinks ASUU’s commander-and-chief has what it takes at such a high level of monetary movement and responsibility.
“Pat knows how to get things done,” Hayes said. “He may not always come off with a friendly demeanor, but whatever he sets his mind to, he’ll do it. It’s his way or the highway, as we’ve seen during his rule here.”
Any way you slice it, the boy-wonder is moving onto bigger and better things. Reimherr knows that he will be stepping into a lion’s den on Wall Street and expects to take his “no-nonsense” attitude with him to the Big Apple.
“This is what I want to do, and no one is going to stop me from doing what I want to do,” Reimherr said.
