The David Eccles School of Business welcomes its new dean8212;Taylor Randall8212;as he replaces his predecessor, Jack Brittain.
Randall, who is currently the school’s associate dean of academic affairs, said in a statement that he is “excited and optimistic” about the school’s future.
Since 2003, Randall has also served as a director for the University Venture Fund. Under his guidance, the fund grew to $18.3 million and became the largest independent-run venture in America. He hopes to see the business school flourish just as well.
“I am confident (Randall) is going to build on the success the school has had in the past,” Brittain said. In 2007, the Wall Street Journal ranked the business school as the 40th best in the country.
“It is never easy to lose someone of Jack Brittain’s excellence and caliber,” said U President Michael Young in a statement. Brittain has served as dean since 1999, and decided to step down so he could focus on his role as vice president of the U’s Technology Venture Development. During his decade-long reign, the business school has increased enrollment, created a new department of operation information systems and increased the ranking of its MBA program, according to The Financial Times.
“We are increasingly the school of choice for business education,” Randall said.
Randall officially takes over as dean July 1. Brittain will continue to teach management classes at the U.
