One student’s night of too much drinking gave Housing and Residential Education a scare.
HRE staff found a drunken student passed out in a Sage Point residence hall building hallway at 2 a.m. Friday. The student, who was found alone and not identified, was taken to the U Hospital emergency room for treatment for over-intoxication, according to the U Police Department.
“We want each of our residents to understand the serious nature of this incident and recognize that it could have been tragic,” said Lindy Nielsen, HRE assistant director for first-year experience and student conduct. “We want to stress that this incident is not typical on our campus.”
Nielsen sent out an e-mail to all student residents Friday saying that this behavior is not acceptable on a dry campus and that they are responsible for their community. A lack of vigilance led to several months of multi-thousand dollar vandalism last Spring Semester, and HRE urges students to keep their eyes open.
If students see anything suspicious in the residence halls, Nielson said they can call their on-duty resident adviser at 801-587-2000.
