1. BYU With the Cougars? impressive 14-13 win over No. 3-ranked Oklahoma, BYU is undoubtably the favorite in the MWC. Even though Oklahoma was without Heisman trophy winner Sam Bradford in the second half, BYU?s upset earn?s the team the top spot.
2. Utah The Utes pulled off the win against the Aggies, but they weren?t as dominant as they would?ve have needed to be to be the top pick. New quarterback Terrance Cain showed promise of leading the Utes to great things in his debut.
3. TCU The Horned Frogs, last week?s favorites, drop below BYU and Utah simply because they had a bye this week and weren?t able to showcase their talented team.
4. Air Force Air Force won 72-0 on its home field against a weak Nicholls State team, scoring 10 touchdowns and rushing for 474 yards.
Colorado State The Rams beat rivals Colorado for the first time in 23 years as they scored 20 of their 23 points in the first half. The win moves Colorado State up into the top five.
UNLV The Rebels also picked up a win as they beat Sacramento State 38-3, but didn?t face much adversity, as they were able to earn more than 200 yards both passing and rushing.
7. Wyoming The Cowboys were the last team in the conference to pick up a win in the opening weekend, as they beat Weber State in Laramie. Austin McCoy was named MWC player of the week after he kicked three-field goals in the win.
8. San Diego State The Aztecs didn?t manage to pull off a win in their first game but put up two touchdowns and held UCLA scoreless in the second half to keep the Bruins from running away with the game.
9. New Mexico The Lobos didn?t get into the end zone all weekend as they only managed to score six points?both field goals?against Texas A&M and allowed the Aggies to score five touchdowns in their 41-6 loss.
