A mechanical problem with a TRAX train caused a 45-minute delay for U commuters Thursday morning.
The car broke down at the City Center station, located at 100 South and Main Street at about 8:30 a.m. Normally, commuting students take the train from that station up to the U. But because of mechanical issues, the Utah Transit Authority stopped all trains on both the Sandy and University lines, said UTA spokesman Gerry Carpenter.
Commuters had to wait for a train hopper to come and take the broken train down back to the UTA yard for mechanical work.
The rail was cleared and operating again by 9:15 a.m.
