Yesterday The Chronicle printed a letter authored by me regarding the post-game statements of Max Hall (“Hall’s comments unfair to Utes,” Nov. 30). I do not wish to change anything I wrote. I really believe that the U is a first-class organization. However, I just read Max Hall’s apology on ksl.com. If what he says about the treatment of his family members at the Utah-BYU game last year is true, then the U also has a substantial problem in making sure that all fans, of any organization, are treated fairly and with respect at their home games. I am also quick to say that I would condemn unsportsmanlike conduct of BYU fans as well, and of course there is some of that too.
