ASUU was presented with an award of appreciation from the Martin Luther King Jr. Planning Committee on Monday.
Recognized for their help in organizing the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Rally and Marade, DJ Payton, ASUU vice president and senior in history and international studies, and Jeff Van Hulten, Chief of Staff and law student, accepted the award from Jennifer Williams Molock, assistant vice president of the Office for Equity and Diversity.
“We wanted to say thank you for all of your hard work,” Williams Molock said. “You have been tremendous in terms of the Martin Luther King Jr. Rally and Marade.”
Jay Molock, co-chair for the U’s Martin Luther King Jr. Rally and Marade, also presented an award to Brian Burton, programming manager and graduate student in educational leadership and policy, for his support and help with the annual event.
“There’s no way to calculate the [community service] hours … but in the last five years, ASUU has been immeasurable,” Molock said.
The U’s Martin Luther King Jr. Planning Committee will award 35 other organizations and offices on campus and in the community for their continued support and help in organizing the annual rally and Marade.
