With their third album, Modern Vampires of the City, Vampire Weekend has continued down the avenue of creativity and fun sounds, all while keeping with their similar formula. Vampire Weekends’ sophomore album, Contra, was a great success, full of incredible songs. When your debut and sophomore albums are major successes, the stakes are high for continued success. Their new album doesn’t fall short, I’d call it a hit.
There are quite a few gems on this album. Their first single Diane Young, is an upbeat unrequited love song, which will leave you singing along. My personal favorite so far is the song Unbelievers, a fast paced song with a melody that gets stuck in your head.
Honestly, I feel this album isn’t as good as Contra, but is nonetheless a great album. Many great songs and an easy listen from the first track to the last. It definitely grows on you.
Featured this last week on Saturday Night Live, Vampire Weekend is jumping out quick to promote their new album. With a major nationwide tour this summer, fans will be able to hear all their favorites along with songs from the new album. Here is a link to their tour listing TOUR
Overall I give it 4 Stars out of 5
