Nine beautiful coeds have been named by various campus organizations as candidates for homecoming queen.
They include Lennox Adamson, Chi Omega nominated by members of Beta Theta; Marjorie Bybee, Kappa Kappa Gamma; Betty McTavish, Delta Delta Delta; Pauline Wrathall, Delta Gamma; Peggy Mitchell, Chi Omega; Bonnie Service, Pi Beta Phi; Helen Clayton, Phi Mu; Travis Johnson, Alpha Chi Omega, and Jean Bertelson, Alpha Pi.
Usual Events
Complete with all the traditional events, Homecoming week will provide entertainment for Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, according to an official lineup of events released by Frank Wood, Homecoming chairman.
First event of the week will be choosing of the finalists for Homecoming queen by a staff of faculty judges Monday at 4 p.m. Preliminaries for skits and quartets will be held at Kingsbury hall and the music hall respectively.
Decorations on fraternity and sorority houses will be judged Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The finalists in the skit and quartet contests will be chosen in Kingsbury hall at 7:30 p.m.
Announce Queen
The Homecoming queen and her two attendants will be announced in Thursday’s Chronicle.
The traditional ASUU Homecoming assembly will feature alumni talent at 11 a.m. Friday. All classes will be dismissed. A football rally will be held between Kingsbury hall and First South street at 7:30 p.m., Bob Wood, rally chairman, reported.
All fraternities and sororities will have open house to welcome back alumni at 8:30 p.m. A dance on the Park plaza will follow, at 9:30 p.m.
Football Game
The kick-off of the Homecoming game — the university versus Denver university — will be at 2 p.m. The annual homecoming dance will begin at 9 p.m. in the Union building. Prizes and trophies will be awarded for the most outstanding skits and house decorations during intermission.
A new feature of Homecoming week will be the moving of the Rostrum to its new site in the basement of the Park building. Homecoming queen will give it its last coat of crimson war paint before it is moved. The date for this event has not yet been set.
“Murder U Says”
All events during the week will carry out this year’s theme “Murder U Says,” according to Mr. Wood.
Mr. Wood’s committee includes Juentin Kolb, Joy Wilson, Dorothy Bernston, Marion Darger, Kack Birk, Esther Felkner, Donna Broome and Betty Booth.
