The attraction at Saturday’s big game may not be the football star in full attire … an attractively dressed coed has been known to attract as many glances.
As Homecoming week progresses, a top thought in all the gals’ minds will be the perennial problem of “what to wear?” The fashions this season are versatile as well as varied; therefore, don’t be surprised to see numerous type styles appearing on the festive scenes.
The casual coat is much in demand — especially for the game. Accessories help make the coat, however, so why not try the new beret or a cloché along with gloves and heels?
The length of the coat depends on the taste of the wearer because it ranges from the longer fuller coat to the moderate middy length. The coats are belted or billowing with fabrics ranging from velvet to tweeds. The mixture of fabrics give excitingly different effects and can be dressed up or down.
The style parade will be in full swing as the Homecoming dance ensues. The dress that seems to be the winner this season is the young, simple and unaffected type. The simple, silhouette fashion is in great demand; this is exemplified by the new evening sweaters.
These sweaters have helped to popularize the evening separates — chiffon, lace, satin, velvet, faille, taffeta, and wool are being worn together. Combined, these fabrics give an almost bewitching effect. Halter-type dresses are still in vogue; they are being designed to emphasize the Empire-waisted look.
Crinolines still add to the grace of a full-skirted dress. A finished appearance is attained if pumps and sandals are the same color as the dress.
Fashion experts have come to the decision, however, that a person should pick what flatters her figure and coloring. This season makes this much easier as the style range from middies to coat dresses to waist-pinchers to low neck-lines — so be wise and make a hit in what is best for you. Have a well-dressed Homecoming!
