If your life was being made into a movie, who would play you and why?

I repeated the question to the room at large, and responses vary. A fellow copy editor gave a complimentary vote of confidence — Ellen Page (not that my life resembles “Juno” in any way). My best friend suggested Scarlett Johannson, which might have been underhanded mockery. Personally, I’d like to be portrayed by, like, Zac Efron because we both have perfect hair. Jason Isaacs (aka Lucius Malfoy) would also be an acceptable choice because of our shared loyalty to the Dark Lord.

My vain side would say an “All the President’s Men” era Robert Redford — A good looking guy in a tan bell-bottomed suit with perfect hair writing copy at a type writer, meeting anonymous sources in dark parking garages in the wee hours of the morning, and bringing down President Nixon. My realist side would say “Doctor Who” era Matt Smith. A Time Lord wearing a tweed jacket and bow tie who thinks fezzes and bunk beds are cool, goes around saving the universe all while completely flummoxed by human beings.

I was once told by an Afghan woman that there’s a famous Bollywood actor who looks just like me. I don’t know who he is, but he would have to be my choice. That way the story of my life would come with choreographed dances and show tunes. And, since it’s a Bollywood film, nobody in America would see it, and none of you would know how weird I am.

In my biopic, I would be played by Olivia Munn, but only funny Olivia Munn from “The Newsroom,” not terrible Olivia Munn from “Attack of the Show.” Sorkin’s Olivia Munn (as Sloan Sabbith) is clever, quick-witted, intelligent, and awkward. Plus Olivia Munn is more attractive than me. There are other celebs who look more like me (Alanis Morissette, for example), but I get to pick, and I pick the super hawt Olivia Munn. Sorkin must write the script.
