As Comic Con comes into town, countless people from around the valley will be dressing up as their favorite superheroes, and some may even be dressing up as the superhero personas of two Ute receivers.
Dres Anderson and Kenneth Scott terrorize opponents with their speed, but when they aren’t blazing by helpless defenders, they may be saving the world, or at least the campus.
Anderson is known as the Red Rocket, while Scott is referred to as the Dark Knight. In an attempt to get the background on the superhero receivers, The Daily Utah Chronicle sat down with the duo.
The Chrony: How did you get the name the Red Rocket?
Dres: I’m always wearing red, and they say I run like a rocket, like I blast off, so they call me the Red Rocket.
The Chrony: Where did the Dark Knight nickname come from?
Kenneth: To be honest I don’t even know. When I was younger I always had a Batman toy. When I was 4 years old my godmom gave me a Batman toy and I kept it all the way to college. Then, I think, Isaac Asiata said something about it, because I told the story about the toy, and he was like, ‘Oh, Dark Knight.’
The Chrony: What’s the geekiest thing you have seen Scott do?
Dres: When K. Scott comes out with all of his Batman gear on, that’s the nerdiest thing. It’s like he’s a big little kid.
The Chrony: He actually comes out with Batman gear on?
Dres: One time, it was the slam-dunk contest over at the Huntsman, he came out with the cape, the Batman symbol, it was crazy. It was tight though, his Batman, everything was on point though.
Kenneth: Oh, you want something nerdy as in funny?
The Chrony: Funnier the better.
Kenneth: I’m not going to lie, Dres be killing me on his Snapchat. He be having me so weak. That’s the funniest thing ever.
Dres: Yeah, don’t follow me on Snapchat
Kenneth: When he dancing, when he be ripping off his shirt.
Dres: Oh yeah, I act like I am a superhuman (Anderson acts like he is ripping the front of his shirt off as he talks). Sometimes I just like ripping my shirt off.
Anderson may act like a superhuman on Snapchat, but Ute fans hope that both the Red Rocket and the Dark Knight can make some superhero plays on the field.
